Kate Waterfield

composer, sings and strings…

Kate Waterfield is a composer and singer playing viola, violin and concertina. She performs regularly at folk clubs and festivals as a solo performer and was previously part of folk trio The Kittiwakes. She released her solo album Closer to Home in 2012 focusing her writing closer to heart and home. Expect songs of tragedy and injustice, love and hope—and the odd talking bird thrown in for good measure! Kate is no stranger to performing live, captivating audiences with the stories she weaves and gorgeous strings-based tunes.

What people are saying about Kate Waterfield:

“a gently poignant and increasingly haunting musical delight”

[fRoots magazine]

“she is the owner of a truly striking voice, clear as a mountain stream and perfect of diction, and her own accompaniment on viola and violin, alongside (Charlie) Skelton, who also plays guitar and Northumbrian smallpipes, really brings her songs to life…a very fine album.”

[Gerry Ransom, R2 **** review]

“Closer To Home is a showcase of beautiful lyrics and evocative storytelling.”
